Teen charged with making hoax calls and obstructing police

A 19-year-old man from Wilmslow has been arrested and charged for making hoax calls to police.

Police received several calls from a male on the evening of Wednesday 24th January making reports of fighting and males being in possession of a firearm on the Colshaw Estate.

Police Sergeant John O'Driscoll said "Officers attended and located a male who initially made off and was detained near to Appleton Walk. The male, Richard Bates, was arrested and subsequently charged."

Mr Bates, of Colshaw Drive, appeared at Crewe Magistrates on Friday, 26th January. He was charged with wasting police time and two counts of obstructing a constable.
