Two of Wilmslow's local businesses have been awarded the title of the best in the UK at the National Finals of The Wedding Industry Awards which took place at Cafe de Paris, in the heart of London's West End last week.
Wedding Planner, Helen Eriksen and singer/pianist Jennie Sawdon were both awarded their much-coveted titles after securing their clients votes and being named as the best in the North West at the regional awards in November last year.
Based in Wilmslow, creative director and owner Helen Eriksen specialises in UK-based weddings, which offer a true wow factor. Helen was inspired to launch her business in 2014 after noticing a gap in the market for a high-end planning service in the North of England, and she has been able to use her own professional experience and flair for design to create the most beautiful and memorable weddings for her clients.
Helen Eriksen said "To be awarded the title of North West Wedding Planner 2018 was absolutely wonderful, to be recognised as the UK Wedding Planner of 2018 really is a dream come true. I could not have wished for a better way to start 2018.
"I am passionate about design and detail and when you consistently work so hard to make your clients day the best it could ever be, it is an absolute joy to have those efforts recognised by both your clients and the industry as a whole. The competition was exceptional this year and to have reached the National Final was an honour in itself. I am so incredibly grateful to my clients for taking the time to vote."
Singer/pianist Jennie Sawdon began her musical career in the classical world. She is both a trained opera singer and an excellent pianist. She has been performing now for over 20 years but her talent and passion for singing at weddings became clear when, at the end of 2010, she was voted 'Wedding Singer of the Year 2010' by The Bridal Magazine, "Best Entertainment Act" in 2012 & 2014 (& finalist in 2015) by County Brides Magazine. This year, she was delighted to win Best National Solo/Duo Act in The 2018 Wedding Industry Awards. Jennie is passionate about making each event a special and personal experience for you, and takes great pride in creating a magical atmosphere for you and your guests.
Jennie Sawdon said "Winning National Solo/Duo Act 2018 at the Café de Paris last week was such a wonderful and rewarding experience! I feel very grateful that my brides and grooms took the time to vote for me and say such nice things. A wedding day is something that will (hopefully!) only happen once in their lives, and therefore it should be such a special and unique experience for each couple. If a bride & groom do me the honour of choosing me for their wedding day, then in my opinion nothing is too much trouble. It's not just about the performance of the songs, but making them feel secure and happy in their choice of musician."
The Wedding Industry Awards were first established in 2011 to act as an industry voice offering a third source of advice to anyone organising a wedding. They are widely recognised as the most credible and reliable awards and hold considerable weight within the industry and with couples planning their big day. They are the only client voted awards which offer further assurances to prospective brides and grooms seeking to find the best possible suppliers for their wedding celebrations.
