Sun shines on family fun day

Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary hosted another successful fun day in glorious sunshine on Sunday, 18th June, which raised over £2000.

Visitors enjoyed a selection of stalls and tombolas along with a variety of games and activities for the little ones and as usual they had some superb cakes all homemade by volunteers and supporters of the sanctuary. Bee keepers from the Bee Educated group were also on hand to talk to visitors about the hives situated at the sanctuary and explain the difference they are trying to make in the local community.

The sanctuary tours were popular as ever with special ferret guests, former residents Spike and Floyd, together with 10 other ferrets known as "The Squeasels" now belonging to adopters Gail and Dave.

Volunteer Nicola Foster said "They came along to show off and allow people to find out more about them. They certainly had fun playing in the area especially set up for them. A lovely day was had by all and all the hard work certainly paid off."

Nicola added "We would like to say a very big thank you to everybody who helped out and to everybody that came along to support us to make the day a success. The money raised from these events goes directly towards helping all the animals in our care.

"It will help us to provide vaccinations, neutering, worming, flea treatment, microchipping and veterinary care for all the animals that come through our door each year, all of whom are desperate for our help."

If you would like to visit Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary to see the work they do, they're open from 11am-4pm everyday except Thursdays at Newgate, Wilmslow SK9 5LN.
