Arrangements are now being fine-tuned for the third annual Cinema on the Carrs Event which is taking place on Saturday, 10th June.

Following on from the success of the previous two events, the decision was taken to extend the popular Cinema in the Carrs so it will run from 12 noon until 9.30pm this year.

During the afternoon the focus will be on children and young families but will appeal to Disney lovers of all ages as 'The Lion King' becomes the first ever matinee film to be shown on the' Cinema on the Carrs' big screen.

Families will also be able to enjoy bouncy castles, themed activity areas and the 'Cinema on the Carrs' food-court from 12 noon until the film ends at around 4pm.

Following the conclusion of the matinee a duck race will take place on the River Bollin organised by Dean Row Guides, tickets will be on sale during the afternoon however the first 50 children to enter the arena in the afternoon will receive a free entry in to the duck race.

The arena will be cleared at the conclusion of the matinee to allow for the preparation of the main event with the gates re-opening at 6pm.

With over 350 public votes cast, 'Dirty Dancing' (12A) in its 30th anniversary year, was selected to provide the entertainment for the evening.

The usual arena restrictions will be in place to enable all to enjoy what has become one of Wilmslow's most popular community events, so bring along your chairs, your picnic and your friends but no gazebo's or barbeques will be allowed in the arena. Additionally, no dogs will be allowed in to the arena except for guide dogs.

The food court will stay open until 9pm with five hot food stalls and a licensed bar.

Cllr Angela McPake, Chairman of the Wilmslow Town Council Events Group said, "Wilmslow Town Council are delighted that our hugely popular summer event is now almost upon us. By providing this free to attend event Wilmslow Town Council hope that the community will assemble in record numbers and enjoy both the main evening feature and the new afternoon family fun event. It's a great location for a great event and we look forward to another successful day."
