Britain's Got Talent star to perform season finale

Leo Bailey-Yang

The final concert in Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra's current season is a very special one – for the first time we will be welcoming Leo Bailey-Yang, a virtuoso pianist only nine years old, who will be playing Mendelssohn's sparkling First Piano Concerto.

Leo hails from Clayton in Manchester and is currently studying at Chetham's School of Music. He astonished the nation when he appeared on 'Britain's Got Talent', aged only seven, and has since appeared on 'Little Big Shots' hosted by Dawn French. We have no doubt that he will be astonishing us!

The 'big work' in the programme is Petrushka, Stravinsky's strangely touching evocation of a Shrovetide Fair in pre-revolutionary Russia. But we begin with a very different fairground scene. Dvořák's Carnival Overture is as the name suggests a joyous work, albeit with its moments of reflective nostalgia.

As conductor, we are delighted once again to welcome back Bob Chasey.

The venue is the Evans Theatre in Wilmslow Leisure Centre. The venue offers plenty of free parking, and the theatre itself has good disabled and restricted mobility access.

The concert takes place on Saturday 10th June at 7.45 in Wilmslow Leisure Centre. Tickets cost £12 (Concession £10, Under 18s £2) and may be obtained from the Ticket Secretary (01925 756 144), at Bang & Olufsen, Alderley Road, Wilmslow (01625 527666), at Therapy, Bank Square (01625 400113), or at the door.
