Drunken driver thrown out of bar before crashing on Handforth bypass

A drunk driver was arrested in Handforth on Sunday, 14th May, after being involved in a collision.

A 36-year-old-man from Oldham was seen getting into his vehicle and driving off after being thrown out of a licensed premises in Alderley Edge. A witness reported this to the police who commenced a search of the area for his silver Jaguar.

An officer came across the vehicle which had crashed on the A34 bypass, at the roundabout adjacent to the Handforth Dean Retail Park.

The driver was arrested for excess alcohol, the legal limit is 35 and his alcohol reading was 120, and his vehicle was seized. He was also not in possession of valid driving licence.

Sgt John O'Driscoll said "Mark MacFarlane has been charged to Stockport Magistrates Court on the 26th June 2017 for drink driving and drive otherwise in accordance with driving licence."
