Joseph joins Cheshire Youth Commission

Jo (1)

A year 9 student from Wilmslow High School has been appointed as a representative for young people to ensure their views help to shape decisions about policing and crime in Cheshire.

Joseph Vale has been joined the Cheshire Youth Commission, the purpose of which is to enable young people to support, challenge and inform the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Cheshire Constabulary. The Youth Commission will help to address priority issues, such as reducing offending and improving the relationship with the police

Between April 2017 and February 2018, Joseph will join a new Youth Independent Advisory Group, providing advice from a youth perspective on policing policies and strategies and work on special topics such as relations with the police, reducing youth offending and drug abuse etc.

He will also gather the views of other young people, plan interactive events to engage other young people and partner agencies and help run these events where possible.

His role will also include reporting back to the Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane, presenting conclusions drawn from the information gathered from young people and help to host the Youth Commission Conference in February 2018.

Mr P J Jones, Careers Coordinator at Wilmslow High School, said "This is a brilliant opportunity for Joseph to gain new knowledge, skills and experiences for his future CV, as well as contributing to a very worthwhile initiative. Members of the Youth Commission will help to inform police awareness and strategy for our area."

Way to go Joseph. He's such a great young man, always ready to help others and taking an interest in so much.
Can't say how happy we are for him
