24-year-old local arrested following café burglary recalled to prison over other incidents

A burglary occurred at family-run cafe in Handforth in the early hours of Tuesday, 11th April.

Police were called to the Istanblue Café on Wilmslow Road at 12.50 am after a man was disturbed by a neighbour.

The offender is believed to have entered the café by forcing open a rear door and left haven taken about £50 in cash from the till along with kitchen appliances, including knives and forks.

Owner Raheleh Lajevardi told wilmslow.co.uk "It was obviously a really bad shock as I didn't know how they got in and whether they had destroyed anything inside."

A police spokesperson said "Officers swiftly attended the scene and following a search of the local area they arrested a 24-year-old local on suspicion of two counts of burglary. One in relation to the café and the second relating to a nearby business that was also targeted.

"Following questioning the man has been released under investigation pending further enquiries. He has also been recalled to prison in relation to other incidents."

Local residents are requested to please check your gardens, bins and outbuildings to see if anything has been hidden.
