Swimmers take the plunge for charity

Three charity swimming events have recently taken place at Wilmslow Leisure Centre raising thousands of pounds for local charities.

Wilmslow Dean Rotary organised the swimathons for the first time this year with 23 teams and 117 swimmers taking part.

Rotarian Paul Almond said "To date we have been pledged £3,154 with more sponsorship to follow. This money is equally divided between the teams charity and the local Rotary charities."

In total the participants swam 2989 lengths. Two teams swimming over 200 lengths with The Scorpions swimming the most.

Paul Almond added "Wilmslow Dean Rotary would like to thank all the teams; the leisure centre and all the many rotary members who took part in this successful event, which will take place again next year."
