Vandals target town centre bins

Litter bins on Grove Street have been the target of vandals this week.

Wilmslow resident Stuart Regard noticed that four of the six bins were 'unstable and in a dangerous state of repair' whilst putting up signs in Grove Street for the Wilmslow Spring Clean Week on Wednesday, 29th March.

He said "I therefore laid them flat on the floor and cordoned them off using black and yellow barrier tape and reported it using the CEC highways online reporting system."

Councillor Rod Menlove confirmed the bins have since been stabilised and will be secured as soon as possible.

He told wilmslow.co.uk "Such mindless vandalism is difficult to understand and it is fortunate that Stuart was there and I thank him for his actions and sending a message to Ansa.

"The senior manager is on holiday so unable personally to respond to Stuart's message. It would have been picked up by the system but in view of the urgency I rerouted the information to her team and they have acted commendably swiftly."
