Wilmslow Wells for Africa held another successful souperday at Wilmslow Methodist Church earlier this month.

The ever popular event was very busy day and raised an impressive £1,403 for the charity which aims to improve life in drought-stricken areas of Africa by providing wells, pumps, dams and water collection equipment.

Jenny Gibbs, Chair of Wilmslow Wells said "This is the result not just of the work of the general committee but also of the many supporters helping to make cakes, bread, soup and man stalls plus those who came to enjoy the morning. This souperday members of the 3rd Wilmslow Brownies helped on the stalls with great charm and effectiveness plus many visitors enjoyed the cakes that Fulshaw WI had helped to contribute.

"Many thanks to all of you for your hard work, generosity and loyalty. We are now looking forward to Gardens Day on June 24th which we are sure will be another day of delights."

Wilmslow Wells for Africa has raised over £1,000,000 since they were formed in 1984. The organisation is operated entirely by volunteers and they keep administration costs to a minimum, enabling them to spend 99.2% of everything they raise directly on projects to provide clean water.
