The Friends of Handforth Station, now entering their 21st year, are hosting a fourth exhibition in their gallery.

The 'Art in a Box' gallery, created in two unused cycle lockers, is now showcasing a changing display of works from Wilmslow High School's art loan scheme which offers businesses the opportunity to buy prints of student's A Level work. Any money raised through the scheme is used for artists' workshops and educational visits.

Mrs Bennett Curriculum Team Leader Art said "We are very excited to work on yet another collaboration with the Friends of Handforth. This project has provided the art students at Wilmslow High School with a great opportunity to display their art work within the community and showcase their talent. We hope that the exhibition will raise our profile and encourage local businesses to consider being part of such a fantastic scheme."

The latest exhibition was launched by Gerry Rafferty, a visitor from Malahide Station, north of Dublin. He was making a preliminary visit to Handforth in preparation for a visit later in the spring for the twinning of the two stations.

James Mander, Arts coordinator, Friends of Handforth Station, said "We are delighted to welcome Gerry, in advance of our "Twinning", to launch the latest addition to our Platform for Art. We look forward to receiving the full Malahide team shortly.

"This exhibition is notable for the imaginative works of these emerging artists and we always welcome proposals for more artworks from all in the community. There is still one of the converted cycle lockers available immediately for another exhibition. Proposals welcome at [email protected]."
