Fire in airport tunnel causes delays

A fire in a tunnel which runs underneath a runway at Manchester Airport has caused disruptions to many flights this evening.

A vehicle burst into flames on the A538 earlier this evening. As a result Manchester Airport was temporarily closed and traffic was brought to a standstill.

The airport has now reopened but they have had to switch runway operations which is causing delays to some flights.

Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights with their airline.
