Four Wilmslow residents have had fake grenades posted through their letterboxes in the past ten days.

On Wednesday 25th January police received a call from a resident of Hawthorn Street stating that a mysterious package had been posted through their letterbox at approximately 9.20pm. The resident reported that when it was posted through it made a loud bang and then a hissing sound. When they opened the bag they saw what looked like a plastic grenade.

The police had a very similar incident reported the same evening at another address on Hawthorn Street.

The following day, Thursday 26th January, police received another call from an address on Hall Road where the resident described a similar item being posted at about 10pm and a further incident was reported at 6.30pm on Friday, 28th January on Victoria Road, Wilmslow.

Most recently the Hall Road resident had a second grenade posted through their letterbox at 10pm on Wednesday, 1st February.

PCSO Sarah Stanley said "The package is in fact a very slim, small foil pouch with a printed picture of a grenade on both sides. Police have an idea of who might be conducting these childish pranks but do ask that if anyone has any information to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 301 02/02/2017."
