Wilmslow United Reformed Church is hosting a special lunchtime concert performed by twenty students from the internationally renowned Chetham's School of Music.

They will sing arias and choruses from some of the best loved 19th century operas including Carmen and Cavalleria Rusticana with a spot of Gilbert and Sullivan in the mix. The students, who have been prepared by the international mezzo soprano and vocal coach Margaret McDonald, will be accompanied by the piano.

The concert will take place on Thursday, 9th February, in the Church from noon to 1pm, with complimentary coffee served from 11.30am.

Tickets are available from the church office (from 10am until noon on weekdays) at £5 each or at the door on the day, space permitting.

What an excellent and very well attended concert this proved to be. It was hard to believe that the singers and accompanists are 6th formers at Chetham's and not older more seasoned performers.

I am so pleased that Wilmslow.co.uk publicised this or I would have missed it.
