Do you remember The Stocking Shop?

Works to renovate a former health food shop are now underway at 4 Hawthorn Lane.

The premises have been empty since Honeysuckle Health Foods closed in 2014 - after trading in the town centre for over 20 years.

Planning permission was granted in July 2015 to change the use of the unit to enable a pub or bar to open and for the erection of a side and rear extension. The application was also part of a wider development plan for the carpark and included a new pedestrian access to the existing carpark.

In renovating the property an old sign has been uncovered for 'The Stocking Shop'.

Local resident Carol Chadwick said "I have lived on the road for over 30 years and, unsurprisingly, it hasn't been that during that time. I wonder if anyone remembers it."

I took a similar photograph thinking the same thing earlier last week. Before my time. I have only been in Wilmslow 22 years..

It was your traditional old fashioned shop yellow sun blinds, wire framed models with thin cardigans. Nothing raunchy like the name might suggest...

I don't remember the shop on Hawthorn Lane, but do remember Valerina's Stocking Bar (if I remember the name correctly) on Grove Street.
