Properties and street furniture sprayed with racist graffiti

Police Officers are appealing for information from the public after racist graffiti was sprayed on a number of properties and street furniture on Manchester Road in Wilmslow.

The incident, which is being treated as a hate crime, is believed to have occurred sometime between 6pm on Tuesday, 27th December and 8am on Wednesday, 28th December.

Inspector Catherine Mitchell "We are treating this incident extremely seriously and we are keen to trace the person responsible so that they can be brought to justice. Hate crime is not acceptable and will not be tolerated in Cheshire.

"We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident and there are currently increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the local community. We're also working with our partners to ensure that all of the graffiti is removed as soon as possible.

"I urge anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact the team here at Macclesfield to help trace the person responsible."

Anyone with any information in relation the incident is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 412 of 28/12/2016. Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
