Police are warning residents to keep their car keys out of sight after three more areas in Wilmslow have recently been targeted by burglars.

The rear window of a property on Pownall Road was smashed with a large stone around 8.15pm on Wednesday, 19th October. At this stage it is unknown what items were taken.

Shortly before 3am on Friday, 21st October, a brick was thrown through the window of a house in Dean Drive and car keys to a white Audi A1 were taken. The victim tried to stop the offenders as they attempted to drive away and was dragged off his drive and trapped between another vehicle causing severe bruising. The offenders then fled the scene in the car.

The following day, the rear door of a property on Broadwalk was smashed at 7pm and cars keys were removed from the property and the offenders left in the vehicle.

Anyone with information can contact Cheshire Police on 101. Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The experience of being burgled when you are either in or off your premises is horrendous - My family and I felt completely vulnerable and frightened by what happened to us: we have been burgled twice in our present property in Wilmslow; on both occasions whilst we were upstairs sleeping. The burglars are completely ruthless - they don't care how much damage they do as long as they fulfill their aim which in our case on both occasions was to obtain the keys to our car and make off with it.

Keep your keys out of sight - it's not enough to leave them within view of a window as the burglars spot them by shining a torch through the window and having a good look around, they then break the window with force (usually with a large stone from out of your garden) and obtain the keys by using a magnet attached to a garden cane or whatever they can find.
They can do this without even entering the property; they then make off at speed leaving you to pick up the pieces!! Not surprisingly, although on both occasions we got our car back, the burglars were never found.
