Local artists blaze a trail through Wilmslow

The third Wilmslow Art Trail which took place over the weekend has been hailed another big success.

Organised by the Wilmslow Business Group and supported by Wilmslow Town Council, this year's event saw 34 local artists showcasing their work in 19 venues across the town for three days.

New for this year, visitors to the trail on Sunday, 16th October, had the opportunity to observe a live rehearsal of the play, Prescription For Murder written by Norman Robins and performed by members of the Wilmslow Guild Players.

Helen Robinson, who probably had the most successful weekend out of all of the participants, said "It was fantastic working with Harvey Jones Kitchens, their showroom on Church Street is a beautiful venue. We welcomed lots of local people and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I was thrilled to sell 16 paintings."

Whilst newcomer Stephanie Cole said "As a newer resident of Wilmslow it was great to get out of the studio and meet some of the community. The encouragement and instant feedback you get from people is invaluable. My hosts, The Brewhouse & Kitchen are also new to Wilmslow and a lot of people on the trail didn't know it had had this wonderful face lift, so it was a great opportunity for them to showcase themselves too.

"Our aesthetic is quite similar and so we went really well together visually, as well as them being so welcoming to me. Art is so important in our busy lives and the trail highlighted some amazing talents. There was a real buzz from visitors who popped in to see my work, what's nicer to do on a weekend with friends and family."

Furniture maker and Wilmslow Art Trail founder, Garry Olson said "We felt that we put together a really good quality display and, although we didn't have as many visitors as venues in the town centre, received a good response from an appreciative audience."

Gary added "Comments from other participants indicate that, once again, Wilmslow has put on a successful art trail."

After the success of last year's postcard sale, artists once again donated a piece of original work in post card form, all proceeds from sale of which went to East Cheshire Hospice raising £170.

Great video. Although disappointed that the amazing work from students at Wilmslow High School (which was on display at The United Reform Church hall) wasn't included. Hope we will feature next year!

Hi Claire, I am sorry there are no photos of the Wilmslow High School students' work.

If you have any photos please do send me them to me and I will add to the gallery as soon as I get the chance.

I run wilmslow.co.uk and alderleyedge.com singlehandedly and for the previous two years I have spent the weekend going round the whole of the art show photographing each exhibition.

However this year I was on holiday and therefore not able to attend.

Kind Regards
Lisa
