Warning not to leave keys visible following a number of recent burglaries

Residents are being warned to not leave their keys visible from a door or window following up number of recent burglaries in the Wilmslow area.

On Saturday, 8th October, a burglary occurred on Maplewood Road. Keys were taken via a hook and cane burglary, whereby the keys were placed near the front door and the offender has removed the keys via the letterbox and left the scene in the vehicle.

On Wednesday, 12th October, a substantial amount of cash was taken from a property on Hollybank Road. There was no sign of forced entry.

The following day, Thursday 13th October, offenders smashed a frosted glass side window at a property on Altricham Road. Keys for a vehicle were taken and offenders then left the scene in the vehicle heading towards the airport tunnels.

The previous week a burglary took place on Hawthorn Lane where entry was gained via the side utility door. An untidy search made of the property and unknown items were taken.

Additionally a property on Dean Drive was broken into. Offenders smashed a glass panel with a large rock to obtain some car keys. They then made off in the vehicle, which was taken from the driveway, and a number of other items which were located nearby were also taken.

PCSO Emma Darroch said "Please do not leave your house or car keys within reach of a door or visible from either a window or a door.

"Please keep them away from prying eyes and make sure that all doors and windows are locked so to prevent opportunistic burglaries."
