Wild birthday celebrations at Messy Church

Attachment-1

The Messy Church at Wilmslow United Reformed Church celebrated its third birthday on Sunday, 2nd October, with a visit from the Animal Man.

Simon Airey entertained and educated children, teenagers and adults with his collection of 37 different small animals and soon they were happily handling snakes, cockroaches, big hairy spiders and hedgehogs as well as more exotic creatures.

One of the children said "It was fantastic. I held a chameleon and had a snake round my neck."

Whilst a parent commented "That was an incredible experience for them, to be able to touch and hold such unusual creatures. They're going to remember this for a long time."

Following the hands-on fun with the animals nearly 50 children and their parents, grandparents and carers enjoyed a picnic tea followed with birthday cake and animal biscuits.

Messy Church is an informal type of church for all ages offering fun with crafts, food, games and singing.

The next Messy Church will be on Sunday 6th November from 4pm to 6pm. For further information email Valerie.
