Car blimey! Thousands expected at tomorrow's Motor Show

Excitement is building for tomorrow's Wilmslow Motor Show and visitors are in for a real treat as the town centre will once again be transformed for the day into a hotbed of high-end luxury cars and superbikes.

Wilmslow will be buzzing as this fantastic family event is expected to attract 30,000 enthusiasts, keen to view an array of high end cars, super bikes, a supercar parade, supercar rides for charity, Formula 1 cars and more.

The highlight of the day will be the Supercar Parade with up to 40 cars doing laps around the town, creating a mesmerising soundtrack when they set off at 12noon.

Once again Sporting Bears Motor Club will enable visitors to experience the drive of their life in an Aston Martin, Ferrari or Bentley in return for a small donation to The Children's Adventure Farm Trust.

Steve Kennedy, who is responsible for the Motor Show Concept & Design, said "We've aimed to widen the shows appeal this year, with Motorcycles and Scooters in between the cars and will gauge public reaction to this. We think a wider appeal can only be a good thing!"

The Wilmslow Motor Show is free to attend and will take place in Wilmslow town centre, along Grove Street, Bank Square and the Alderley Road service road. It opens at 10am and finishes at 4pm.

Lets be realistic. Its more likely to be a couple of thousand not 30,000. This events attendance is getting hyped out of all proportion. Has anypne stopped to think how you can fit 30,000 visitors plus the normal visitors on the pavements of Wilmslow alongside the displays? Its just not possible.

Oliver - it attracted huge crowds last year and the reason being is that because there are displays of cars etc which are there before and after the car parade it means that people are coming to see what is going on throughout the day, so there is a massive turnover of people. It is this factor which allows the carparks etc to cope with the influx. Believe it or not this is a major event in the North West "car calendar" - and all credit to the organisers. It helps the profile of Wilmslow and the businesses here. Hope we are going to get some great photos again Lisa.

Large crowds like they said but, the drive through, what a disappointment.
We waited ages for it to start, the police didn't seem to know what was happening, you'd had thought this was the first time it was held.
The police made them drive at a snails pace through the town, NO, we wanted to hear the roar of the engines.
I been since the first one but this is the last.

Jackie - do you really believe it attracted 30,000 or ever had a chance to attract this number?
The evidence is very clear in the photos. Nothing wrong with the event, it is what it is, but we need to be serious about attendance. Especially if any public money goes into it.
The truth is likely to be that the numbers were exagerated initially probably through over enthusiasm and have continued to be exagerated ever since. I suspect it wont happen on this website again now it has been highlighted.
