One fire engine from Wilmslow and one from Wythenshawe were called to a detached house in Styal on Monday, 29th August.

Firefighters arrived at 10.36am to the house on Hollin Lane where smoke was seen coming from the ground floor.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out the fire involving a laptop.

Everyone from the property was accounted for and crews were at the incident for one hour and 15 minutes. Police were also at the scene to manage traffic.

A man was in the house when the fire started. Smoke alarms alerted him to black smoke on the landing of the property. He escaped through a first floor window and called out the fire and rescue service.
