The Rio Olympics 2016 have arrived and the hunt is on for the next Andy Murray, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah. A fantastic opportunity for local juniors to try out eight different Olympic sports is coming to Wilmslow. The Junior Olympic multi-sports camp based at Pownall Park Tennis Club on Carwood Road is run by LTA Master Coach Phil Spencer who explains what's going on.

"Starting on Monday the 15th of August for three weeks until Friday the 2nd of September we will be putting Wilmslow juniors aged 5-15 through their paces. We have eight different Olympic sports in the camp programme including, Athletics, Hockey, Handball, Table Tennis, Badminton and Tennis.

"The three weeks of summer camps promise to be lots of fun with the camp offering the chance for juniors to learn a variety of sporting skills from our top coaches who all have experience in the different sports both playing and coaching. All children receive a special certificate and there are lots of medals and trophies for all the various activities. We want the children of Wilmslow to feel inspired by Rio 2016 and to follow in the footsteps of their Olympic heroes this summer."

The junior Olympic multi-sport camps are from 9.30-3.30pm each day and there are also early drop off and late pick up options available. The camps are just £22 for a full day and £15 for a half day (9.30an-12noon). Places are limited and any interested parents wanting to book their children on the camps should contact head coach Phil either via email: [email protected] or by phone/text 07773738981.
