Paddock Fair is best ever

Families gathered in the sunshine at The Paddock in Handforth on Saturday, 23rd July, to have lots of fun at the free community event.

Now in its 4th year, The Paddock Fair was really busy with lots of people enjoying the opening of the new East Cheshire Hospice shop, stalls, live music and meeting neighbours.

Old and new were entertained with free Punch & Judy shows, toddler golf, an owl display, character appearances, Shetland pony rides and other children's activities. Live entertainment included performances from The Oakmere singers and Unique star.

There were also a selection of trade stands from local businesses, organisations and charities including Women's Legion and Hampers of Hope who had sold out of everything by 2pm.

Friends of Stanley Hall Park were also hosting a display showing their plans for a new skate park plans and East Cheshire Hospice opened their new shop at The Paddock selling a range of clothes, furniture, toys and raising a fantastic £1,635.50 on their first day.

The Mayor of Cheshire Olivia Hunter was also in attendance along with local politicians.

Meriton Road Park was very busy as well with families playing football, in the playground or just sitting on the grass in the sunshine watching the train rides which were run by the Model Engineering Society.

Organiser Kerry Burgess said "The event was the best to date, it was very busy and it was great to see families having a great day. People came from as far as Manchester, Macclesfield and Stockport and the Mayor thought the event was fantastic."
