Winners of 2016 Scarecrow Festival announced

The winners of the 2016 Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival which brought lots of fun and colour to the town centre have been announced.

Despite being slightly down on last year's numbers, Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club who have organised the festival for the past seven years were delighted to have sixty scarecrows across the town, including three from local primary schools.

The coveted 1st Prize for 2016 Best Business Scarecrow has been won by Harrington & Hallworth's 'Tim Peaks' and the Best School Scarecrow was awarded to Ashdene Primary School.

Organiser and member of Rotary Wilmslow Dean, Geoff Shelmerdine said "It was difficult to select once again with 60 entrants ranging from BFG's, Pirates and Kardashians all fighting for the top spot."

The Best Business Scarecrow Winner will collect the Silver Trophy, Certificate and a cheque for £100 from the Rotary President Colin Eggleton and Wilmslow Business Group Chairman Catherine McKenzie at their meeting today (Tuesday, 19th July).

Whilst Ashdene Primary School will receive the Silver Trophy for the Best School Scarecrow at a meeting after the school holidays.
