Barlow's Beef: What a complete and utter shambles

vicbarlowmerlin

What's happening in Westminster post referendum? Looks like they're doing some old party dance:

You put your Boris in, your Boris out
In out in out shake him all about
You hold a referendum and your turn around
So nobody's left in doubt
All do the okay-cokey...

Mr Cameron told us all to remain... then he left. Boris led the Leave campaign then came back. Michael Gove remained in before being shoved out.

Gorgeous George threatened us all with Armageddon if we didn't stay in... then he went out.

Andrea Leadsom began her campaign to be Prime Minister by claiming that as a mother she was the best candidate as front-runner Theresa May was childless.

When she realised the furore caused by her crass remarks she blamed them on the Times reporter who she claimed 'misrepresented' her. Unfortunately (for Mrs. Leadsom) the newspaper refuted her version of events by playing a recording of her interview on every national news station.

It was clear not only had Mrs. Leadsom insinuated she would make a better Prime Minister than her childless opponent she had attempted to damage the reputation of Times journalist Rachel Sylvester by shifting the blame onto her.

Giving the irrefutable evidence against her Mrs Leadsom was shamed into withdrawing from the race.

With nauseating predictability the Tory party immediately described Mrs Leadsom as a selfless politician prepared to sacrifice herself for the good of the nation (at which point I felt the urgent need to vomit).

UKIP's Nigel Farage spent seventeen years urging us all to leave. Finally we did... and so did he.

Then there was Jeremy Corbin who voted Remain but ran a totally unconvincing campaign which made him 'totally unsuitable to lead' while Mrs May voted Remain and ran a totally unconvincing campaign and became Prime Minister. Weird or what?

I have no idea what the process is that allows MP's to challenge for the leadership of the Labour Party but I suggest they screen their candidates in future.

Close your eyes when Angela Eagle is speaking... and what do you hear?

Orville the duck.

I can't wait for Question Time when she's asked to explain why she lost the election.

" I thought I could fly right up to the sky... but I can't."

The whole political scene has become a pantomime. Screaming Lord Sutch and his Monster Raving Looney party seem quite sane by comparison. If they were around today they'd probably win by a landslide.

Is it any wonder the public have so little regard for Westminster and the entire self-serving political shenanigans that masquerade as democracy?

There must be some genuine conviction politicians out there somewhere but God knows what they are doing.

Knees bend, arms stretch

Rah-rah-rah...

So, in the Wilmslow Town Council by-election we can vote for an Independent candidate who says "Put People before Party".
Our CEC Tory Councillors have voted repeatedly to remove Green Belt protection from what is left of it around Wilmslow- never a word of explanation why they are ignoring the electorate, who have made it absolutely plain that they want no reduction in Green Belt. They are following the party line, instead of representing the voters who elected them.
Last year Alderley Edge kicked out an entire Tory Council and replaced it with Independents, Alderley First- why not Wilmslow Second? From little acorns, etc...

Our MP must have plenty of time on his hands at the moment- can we entice him to get involved locally, I'm sure that we can think of plenty of things for him to do for us.

Vic - hilarious as usual. Current events put me in mind of the scene in the Godfather where Clemenza says, "These things gotta happen every 5 years or so, or 10. Helps to get rid of the bad blood".

Pardon me, but just who is this man Barlow? I've seen his opinions many times over the years but what qualifications does he have for being so publicly opinionated? Far better this week he should have ranted on about the collapse of some of Wilmslow's bus services.

Howard

As far as I can make out, it's an area of the site for opinions - so Vic is simply voicing his opinion.

You can do the same?

From a qualification perspective, he is fantastic dog trainer.
