Wilmslow Show cancelled due to dreadful conditions on the field

Unfortunately the committee has just decided that the Wilmslow Show cannot go ahead tomorrow due to the appalling conditions on the field as a result of the heavy rain.

Frank McCarthy, Chairman of the Wilmslow Show said, "We are bitterly disappointed but have had to cancel the show due to the dreadful conditions on the field today. We will be in touch with all participants soon and thank everyone for their support."

The Wilmslow Show was due to return to Wilmslow High School for the 104th time tomorrow, Sunday, 10th July, and volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure it was the best yet.

Unfortunately these is the second time in recent years the event has had to be called off, the 101st Wilmslow Show was cancelled in 2012 as the field at Wilmslow High School was waterlogged.

Disappointing news.
Last years Show was also curtailed due to rain.
On the plus side, many will be able to watch British Gran Prix & Wimbledon Men's Final (hopefully).

Such a shame when so much work will have gone into the preparations. If only global warming was more sun less rain ☔.

Maybe a return to the Carnival field might be considered?

Having regularly attended Carnival Field for the fireworks and spent many hours plodging around in the mud, I'm not sure you'd find the drainage there any more favourable!

It also lacks the parking the high school has.

Does this mean that the grant from Wilmslow Town Council is wasted?
