Scarecrow parade gets off to a soggy start

The heavens opened just as the Scarecrow Parade set off in the town centre this morning to celebrate the 2016 Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival.

Thankfully the rain stopped so old and young could enjoy the sound of the Cheshire Constabulary Police Brass Band and Drummers.

They were joined on the parade by Rotary Robin and Rosie, two 4m high scarecrows made by rotarians Geoff Shelmerdine and Bernard Davies. As well as some Brownies and Rainbows with their own scarecrow creation.

The parade set off from the library and proceeded along Alderley Road and down Grove Street to Bank Square.

If you didn't manage to catch all the weird and wonderful straw creations which have been on display around the town for the past fortnight you can see them in our scarecrow gallery.

A selection of scarecrows will be on display in the rotary tent at the Wilmslow Show on Sunday 10th July where visitors will be invited to choose their favourite.
