Summer Serenades return to St Barts

Manchester High School for Girls A Capella Vocal Group

Following the success of last year's Summer Serenades, Sunday afternoon recitals will return to St Bartholomew's Church in July.

Last year's Summer Serenades raised £2000 for the church's Organ Appeal and provided quality entertainment and good company throughout the summer.

Philip Underwood said "This year the series begins on 3rd July with a vivacious splash of girl power! The Manchester High School for Girls A Cappella Vocal Group (pictured) is a seven-strong choir of outstanding young musicians, with several familiar names among them. The group is directed by 18-year old 'cellist Clara Rundell, who is about to head off to Manchester University to study Music, and joined by Emma Truman, Eleanor Banks, Erin Bailey, Alison Whittell, Ceferina Penney (one of the outstanding singers at this year's Alderley Edge Festival) and Mia Serracino-Inglott.

"The girls will present an entertaining programme of choral works interspersed by instrumental solo and duet performances."

The Summer Serenades will be held every Sunday in July, starting at 3pm. Recitals will be 45-60 minutes long and will be followed by afternoon tea. There is no admission charge but a collection will be taken after each recital with all proceeds going to the 'Oscar the Organ' Appeal.
