Wilmslow teenager overcomes mental health difficulties to launch third business

After being diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in 2014, William Hale, 17, is now enjoying life as a director of his own company.

This month William is due to launch his third online business Hobby Network, following success with Plane Spotting Manchester and Plane Spotting UK.

William says his achievements in business would not have been possible without the mental health support he received from Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP).

He said: "I was struggling in lots of different ways when my school nurse referred me to CWP, but from that moment on things have been getting better and better.

"The CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) team at CWP were brilliant and diagnosed me with OCD immediately.

"I benefitted from psychiatric support and attended weekly therapy sessions which have helped me to manage my condition.

"I now have a better understanding of OCD and I'm able to live my life to the full.

"I can't thank the team enough for everything they've done for me. They've removed barriers and helped me to become a better person, and a better businessman."

Whilst receiving support from CWP, the young entrepreneur set up Plane Spotting Manchester and Plane Spotting UK - which has over 50,000 users.

William was semi-discharged from CWP last month after making great progress with the Trust's CAMHS team and urges more young people to seek mental health support if they face difficulties socially or at school.

William said: "If you're ever feeling low or frustrated, make sure you use the support available.

"Don't let how you're feeling define who you are and always remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel."

CWP CAMHS supports the mental health and wellbeing of 0-19 year olds across Cheshire and Wirral. For more information visit www.mymind.org.uk.
