Family fun day raises £2000 for rescued animals

With guided tours of the Sanctuary, fun with ferrets, the party tent, bouncy castle, slide, tombolas and cakes galore, Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary's third Family Fun Day proved another huge success.

Held on Sunday, 12th June, the event raised more than £2000 for the charity, much needed funds which will go towards the annual running costs of £165,000.

Trustee Melanie Hay said "Despite rather worrying wet weather on the run up to the event, causing us to 'have kittens', quite literally, the day turned out to be much drier during the afternoon which encouraged visitors to turn out and enjoy the fun on site. The Queen's 90th Birthday was the theme with plenty of red, white and blue bunting and ballloons decorating the marquees.

"A huge team of volunteers rallied round all day and we are grateful to everyone who helped out. We certainly owe some special thanks to Peter and Denise from the Artisan Market who loaned us all the tables and gazebos once again for the day. As well as to Nicola, Jannine and Myra for conducting endless tours of the Sanctuary and our fantastic staff members, Ali, Jenny, Rachel and Sue for, not only doing their 'day job' but turning their hands to help out at the event."
