Alterations to church approved

A Wilmslow Church has been granted planning permission for a number of changes designed to make the building more accessible.

Plans for the Wilmslow United Reformed Church on Chapel Lane include making alterations to its main entrance, creating new side entrances and constructing a link bridge. This application relates to an initial phase of the development to improve the access and egress to the church.

The scheme includes adding a new doorway in the north transept and a new ramp to the main entrance to make it more accessible for wheelchair users. A step at the front door will be removed and the terrace raised to provide a level entrance.

Additionally, the vehicle and pedestrian driveway will be raised, a bridge path will link the new doorway in the north transept with the ramps and landing to the front entrance and a new doorway will replace a window at undercroft level for improved escape provision.

The planning application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 16/1087M.
