Lacey Green Primary Academy has been granted planning to demolish a mobile classroom and construct a new nursery/pre-school.

The scheme include building extension to the north east of the school building, to provide a new nursery/pre-school, in place of the existing car park.

The parking facilities will then be relocated near the site entrance, in place of the demolished mobile building.

The new facility been designed to enable the transition to be smoother for pre-school children. By integrating the nursery into the school staff will be able to work closely with reception teachers who the nursery children will be familiar with.

The two-storey extension will provide two classrooms at ground floor level with toilets, changing facilities, an office, reception, kitchen, staff room and store rooms. At first floor level there will be two further classrooms which will predominantly be used by the before and after school clubs.

Additionally an extended hard landscaped playground area will be provided adjacent to the new extension for use by the nursery/pre-school.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 15/5687M.

With regard to the new nursery to be built at Lacey Green Primary Academy;

As this will count as a business it will run at a profit as at present under the existing private contract. What will this profit be used for and will it be used exclusively for Lacey Green Academy?

What will happen to existing staff of the nursery, are they local residents and will they be offered jobs at the new nursery ?

I note the planning application is in the name of Michael Beanland who is Lacey Green Academy Business Manager
Who is also a conservative member of Cheshire East Council representing Poynton East and Adlington
Who was as at May 2016 a member of the Northern Planning Committee
