Fun dog show attracts bumper turnout

A family fun dog show proved even more popular than usual attracting 130 entrants on Sunday, 22nd May.

For the fourth consecutive year Friends of the Carrs organised the Canine Capers show which included eight categories plus 'Best in Show'.

The rain came but spirits were not dampened and the show went on with entries up 25% on last year, raising nearly £200 for much needed work in The Carrs.

Ruth Lees said "We have a number of ongoing projects including renovation/restoration of the river bank, invasive weed control and tree and wildflower planting so I would expect the money to go towards this type of activity."

Olivia Fitton of Wilmslow was the delighted owner of Best in Show Arthur, an Airedale terrier whilst Best Rescue Dog was Tom's Bedlington Terrier who had spent two years on the end of a rope in a builder's yard before he was lucky enough to be rescued.

Also amongst the winners were Prettiest Bitch which went to Esmae's Coco and Most Handsome Dog was Felix McKay's Manchester Terrier Eric.

Many of the dogs, and some of their owners, had a great time tackling an agility course and Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary came along with their well-loved donkey Teabag.
