Spate of hoax 999 calls from Wilmslow phone box

Residents are being warned to only call 999 in an emergency and to also remind their children about the dangers of making hoax calls.

Cheshire Constabulary has recently received numerous 999 calls from a phone box on Colshaw Farm but when patrols arrive at the location there is no-one there.

These calls are taking uniformed patrols away from their work and while attending hoax 999 calls they may be unable to attend genuine 999 calls.

PCSO Darroch said "The above is impacting on the officers within the Wilmslow area, hoax calls are being attended instead of genuine 999 or 101 calls, individuals caught committing the above offence will have positive action taken against them."
