Former England captain to open new nets

Former England captain and Ashes winner, Michael Vaughan, will officially open the new nets facility at Lindow Cricket Club on Sunday, 15th May.

The club has raised the funds over the last 18 months to purchase the nets, which included a £42,000 grant from Sport England and additional support from Wilmslow Town Council, Cheshire East Council, Cheshire Cricket Board and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

The new three lane nets allow the club to provide an all-weather training facility for its three senior and seven junior teams.

Events will kick off on Sunday with a junior game starting at 9.30am, This will be followed by the official opening at 1.30pm and then a match in the afternoon involving former chairmen and captains of the club will start at 2pm. There will also be a BBQ, bouncy castle and music for everyone to enjoy.

Adam Bull, Club Secretary, commented "Sunday's official opening celebrates a lot of hard work by a lot of people to make this happen. We're thrilled that Michael Vaughan has recognised the positive impact our volunteer-run club is having in the local area and if he plays well in the new nets he may even get a Lindow call up in the future!"
