In order to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan for Wilmslow the Town Council has submitted an application to Cheshire East Council to designate the area which the plan will cover.

The Town Council resolved at their meeting on Monday 18th April that the Wilmslow Neighbourhood Area will cover the Parish area of Wilmslow minus the Manchester Airport land which falls within the Wilmslow Parish area. This is because the airport expressed a wish for their land to be excluded from the Neighbourhood Plan.

The application states "Although this is not the ideal scenario, the Town Council recognises that the strategic plan for the airport will be reflected in the Local Plan's strategic policies. As the Neighbourhood Plan production is required to conform to the strategic policies of the Local Plan that means that a complete and harmonised set of proposals for the area should be achieved by the end of the process.

"The proposed designation area for Wilmslow, as shown on the accompanying map, is therefore the Parish boundary area excluding only the Manchester airport land."

Cheshire East Council is holding a six week consultation to seek representations on the proposed Neighbourhood Area for Wilmslow. The consultation will run until 5pm on 8th June 2016.

Comments can be submitted via the Cheshire East Council website, by email to [email protected], or in writing to: Spatial Planning, Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, CW11 1HZ.

Following this consultation, Cheshire East Council will consider all representations made and decide whether to designate the Neighbourhood Area or refuse to designate the Neighbourhood Area. A document setting out the Council's decision and a statement of their reasons for making that decision will be published.

The designation of a Neighbourhood Area will allow Wilmslow Town Council to begin the process of producing a Neighbourhood Development Plan, which is a means to help shape local development in communities.

We must include 'our part of the airport' in the plan and charge the airport per landing and take off. It's no good WTC doing what they are told to do.
Start it now and backdate the invoice.
CEC take millions annually from Wilmslow plus s106 monies from builders. We are a cash cow and this is a way of getting WTC money to get something done, without stretching out the begging bowl to CEC, with a 'Please Sir, can we have some of our money?'
And don't tell me that it can't be done. Just bill them net 30days and get a high court writ if they don't pay.
WTC are quite capable of getting on with the job without CEC. Academy schools would further sever the ties.
This is a unique opportunity and needs affirmative action by courageous Cllrs.
