Wilmslow Health Centre recently underwent a comprehensive inspection of its services by a team of inspectors from the Care Quality Commission.

The announced inspection was carried out on 23rd February and overall the practice was rated as 'Good'.

Inspectors found that risks to patients were assessed and well managed and staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to deliver effective care and treatment. Patients said they were treated with compassion, dignity and respect and they were involved in decisions about their care and treatment.

Information about services and how to complain was available on request and easy to understand. Additionally, patients said they found it easy to make an appointment with a named GP, with urgent appointments available the same day.

Inspectors found that the practice had good facilities and was well equipped to treat patients and meet their needs. They also felt there was a clear leadership structure, staff felt supported by management and the practice proactively sought feedback from staff and patients, which it acted on.

Professor Steve Field's report also stated that the provider was aware of and complied with the requirements of the Duty of Candour, in that they were open and transparent with people who use their service in relation to care and treatment.

The inspector's report also identified several areas where Wilmslow Health Centre should make improvements. These included ensuring systems are in place to accurately record and share learning from significant events and complaints widely and in a timely manner to prevent re-occurrence and ensuring certificates demonstrating safety checks of the facilities are in place, including gas and electrical safety.

Additionally, all staff should receive an annual appraisal and the patient participation group should be reinstated to ensure patients can give feedback, comments and suggestions and are engaged with the future developments of the practice.

Dr Ahmed said "Dr Brennan and I see the report at a tribute to all of the hard working staff of Wilmslow Health Centre, nurses, doctors, receptionists and admin, who work tirelessly to deliver high quality primary care despite facing major challenges to funding and an ever increasing demand for GP services."

Wilmslow Health Centre appointments are a Joke!! There were never any available the same week never mind day!! and now we are told there is NOTHING available and to keep phoning back! There should be a regulation regarding a maximum number of patients a surgery is allowed to have. Every patient has a right to be seen when ill.
