Second foodie festival hailed a huge success

A host of events took place across the town last week for Wilmslow's second Food and Drink Week, celebrating and showcasing the abundance of food and drink suppliers in and around the town.

With many of the events selling out, Wilmslow residents have been enjoying everything food related, from beer tastings to Man V Food competitions, chocolate tastings to cream teas and talks on superfood smoothies and Argentinian beef.

Spencer Neal from Crispens Sandwich Shop commented "It was a fantastic week. We were really happy to be involved for the second year running and looking forward to next year already. It was lovely to see the people of Wilmslow and surrounding areas getting involved. It was nice for us to give something back to the community and our wonderful customers even if it was only free coffee."

Paul from Earlams said "We had a great time here at Earlams. From our perspective the week worked really well and we are able to attract a lot of new faces to the store and cafe due to our inclusion in the festival, so it is definitely something we will be doing again next year. "

The week of events came to a spectacular end on Saturday with the extended Artisan Market.

Denise Valente of the Wilmslow Artisan Market commented "Wilmslow Artisan Market was a magnificent end to 'Food & Drink Week' bringing so many foodie delights to the town.

"It was great to be joined by Peter Herd Bakery again, a local family run bakery epitomising the quality & choice available in many of our local retail businesses.

"Madame Zucchini brought a fabulous fun element to the day offering children's veggie craft workshops and shows as well as her courgette walkabouts And Nigel Brown was outstanding on the Chef's Demo Kitchen showing Wilmslow residents how to prevent food wastage whilst cooking up some terrific recipes from his award winning cook book 'NB. How to Cook' All in all a fabulous foodie festival."

Visitors also had the chance to see the amazing cakes entered by Wilmslow High School students into their Cake Off Competition judged by Sarah Bridge of Wilmslow Kitchen Cookery School and Charles Banford, Technical Baker at Peter Herd's Cakes.

Catherine Mackenzie, Chairman of Wilmslow Business Group, organisers of the event said "I hope that everyone enjoyed Food & Drink Week as much as we did. It was great to be able to celebrate all of the great food and drink outlets we have in the town. It's back on the diet now."

The WBG events team is now focusing on their next event – the Wilmslow Health & Lifestyle which will take place in venues around Wilmslow between Monday 13th and Sunday 19th June.
