Police clock speeding drivers on Hollin Lane

Following complaints about speeding on Hollin Lane in Styal, police deployed the speed indication device to a section of the road.

The results showed that vehicles were travelling at an average speed of 34.1mph in a 30 mph limit.

PCSO Jim Newns also used the speed gun which recorded 420 cars travelling on Hollin Lane between 1pm and 2pm mid-week, of which 36 were speeding.

OMG 4mph over the limit. Quick bring back the guy to walk in front with a red flag. Has nobody told these "guardians of our safety" that modern cars are capable of stopping very well in an emergency.

Given that it's a major thoroughfare, 30MPH is an inappropriately low limit, as demonstrated by the average measured speed of 34MPH. A more appropriate limit would be 40MHP.

It's a residential road so 30 is ample, isn't it?
40 mph is just an excuse for people to do 45. Or more...
