New arrival at Handforth Station needs a name

Fox at Handforth with Helen Wright (2)

There's a new creature hiding in the bushes at Handforth Station, amongst the many other artistic items for passengers to look out for.

The latest addition to Handforth Station's 'Platform for Art' is a fox made by Helen Wright, a sculptor and teacher at Dean Oaks Primary School. It sits alongside many smaller creatures her pupils have made and which are also concealed amongst the bushes and trees on the Manchester-bound platform.

The Friends of Handforth Station now need an appropriate name for the fox, so if you have any ideas put your suggestion, with your own contact details, in the box in the ticket office by March 12th.

The person who suggests the chosen name when the group next have a working party at the station, will receive a railway pass which will provide free travel anywhere on Northern trains until April 1st when the train operating franchise will change to Arriva trains.

Helen Wright said "I look forward to hearing the name for my fox. He is a little mischievous but hopefully he won't cause too much of a problem at the station."

Andrew Backhouse, Secretary of Friends of Handforth Station, said "It's great to get a larger animal on the station – and great to see what we might get next to get people to look around them at the art works."
