Plans for block of 12 apartments on Chapel Lane

DSCN1698

A planning application has been submitted for the demolition of two dwellings and the erection of a block of apartments, on a site adjacent to Chapel Lane and Hawthorn Street.

Leigh based Eventus Properties Limited are seeking permission to replace 20 & 18a Chapel Lane, two-storey houses located on the corner of Chapel Lane, Bedells Lane and Hawthorn Street, with a three-storey building containing 12 apartments.

The proposed scheme is for 10 two-bedroom apartments and 2 three-bedroom apartments along with 24 car parking spaces. It would be accessed by the existing driveways to number 18a and 20 respectively in a one-way manner.

The planning application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 15/5668M.

The last date for submitting comments is 25th February and a decision is expected by 15th March.

Is someone having a laugh. The block next door which was granted planning under very suspicious circumstances, apart from being an eyesore and a blight on neighbours.

Planners, I think, should be able to do what the title suggest, and that is plan. Plan for the future well being of the special town in which we live, its residents and their children. It is obvious right now that the town is overloaded and choking with traffic. It also has apartments or buildings being shoo horned into every square metre of precious land for the insatiable appetite of any greedy developer who knows how to play the game.
Another 12 apartments, 24 cars, squeezed into a corner which is a traffic hazard in itself. No, it's time to stop this now, this town doesn't need any more, it's full.
