It takes just Two to perform Green Room's next play

Two - Vicky Johnson & Paul Lewis

A challenging play to produce but the Green Room is looking forward to welcoming you to eavesdrop on the conversations and lives of fourteen characters in this funny production played by a cast of just two actors. Yes, just two!

When you're in a cafe or pub, do you look at the people around you and wonder what they're talking about? What's on their minds? What's really going on in their lives? The playwright, Jim Cartwright does.

In his play Two, he takes us out to a Northern pub, swiftly cutting between scenes of hilarity and pathos taking place in real-time during a single evening. The action makes great demands on the cast, on the lighting, sound and wardrobe departments and on the rest of our superb backstage crew. But the production also calls on the imaginative powers of you, the audience to fill out the scenes. On a sparsely furnished stage the audience is challenged to smell the ale ingrained into the woodwork, admire the foaming heads as our hosts pull their pints and picture the throng of thirsty revellers.

The Wilmslow Green Room's director, Clare Lewis is delighted to have been asked to direct Two. She loves the way Cartwright puts poetry into the mouths of the most humdrum of characters and admires the depth of his insight into human nature in all its aspects and his talent for switching the mood and pace of each scene. She will also be directing her husband for the first time which she says, "some may find it hard to believe, but he isn't really used to doing what I tell him!"

So if you 'fancy a pint at the local' come and join us at the Green Room Theatre from Saturday January 23rd to Saturday January 30th where performances start at 7.45pm prompt.
