Alderley Pilates celebrates fifteen years of Pilates progress

Promotional Feature

From a simple start with classes in Chelford Village Hall in January 2001 Alderley Pilates has developed into a stylish, calm and private setting for an extensive series of Pilates matwork classes, private lessons, with matwork and state of the art studio equipment, and specialist workshops and master classes.

Pilates has become well established as an effective way to stretch and tone, to build core strength combined with flexibility and to improve stamina. It targets the deep postural muscles building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment. It helps to reshape your body which can become longer, leaner and more toned. It will also improve your posture, achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility and it is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.

The studio founders Jan and Peter Bowen are supported by a team of Body Control Pilates trained teachers and the team have backgrounds in nursing, education and dance. The studio is a regional training centre for Body Control and the team contribute to teacher training.

Our teaching is based around four themes:

  • Pilates for Life
  • Pilates for Performance
  • Pilates for Recovery
  • Pilates Master Classes

We offer small Pilates matwork classes at 5 levels from Beginner to Advanced and our gentler classes match the popular Pilates for Life book by Lynne Robinson.

Pilates can help professional sports players and enthusiastic amateurs, to improve performance and recover from injury. We have experience with cycling, equestrian sports, football, golf, rugby, running and tennis in particular.

Pilates can form part of a recovery programme from injury or surgery and we are always pleased to work in conjunction with consultants and practitioners on a combined programme. We have experience with recovery from spinal surgery, hip and knee replacements and breast cancer in particular.

The studio currently has two Master Matwork qualified teachers as well as those with equipment training and welcomes leading Pilates teachers from the UK and elsewhere to provide specialist classes and workshops. These include Pilates and Dance Fusion classes, faster paced Dynamic Pilates and the challenging Pilates Full Classic Mat sequence.

This year to mark our fifteenth anniversary we will be welcome leading Pilates experts, including best selling author and "Queen of Pilates" Lynn Robinson, to the studio as well as launching a new website.

If you are new to Pilates there is still time to join daytime, evening or Saturday Beginners classes. If you have tried Pilates before then you are welcome to try a sample class with us.
