Christmas Tree Festival raises £800 for mother and baby unit

Wilmslow Methodist Church was transformed at the weekend into a festive wonderland for the annual Christmas Tree Festival which raised over £800 for the Action for the Children's Project at the mother and baby Unit at Styal prison.

Gwyneth Holt said "Local groups, schools and businesses provided the most imaginative creations, based on Christmas carols and songs, ranging from trees filled with all styles of decorations (one that even required pedal power to work the lights!), beautiful flower arrangements, quirky constructions, to a spread of Christmas food and even an edible Christmas scene.

"Watched over by the host of handcrafted angels, visitors were really impressed with the hard work and thought that had gone into making the festival a real celebration of Christmas, and spent time spotting the interesting details amongst the trees."

Frosty the Snowman (above) by 7th Wilmslow Brownies was voted the visitor's favourite with Gorsey Bank School's Let it Snow in second place and Fulshaw WI came 3rd with their handcrafted decorations.
