Local residents are being invited to enjoy an hour of jazz, to brighten up your lunchtime, at Wilmslow United Reformed Church on Thursday, 26th November.

Music will be provided by the John Rotherham trio from Poynton with John on piano, Gary Culshaw on bass guitar and Paul Tuite on drums. John has played extensively around the North West, often accompanying players visiting from London and American.

Their programme will include plenty of familiar tunes from the Great American Song Book along with some jazz originals.

John studied piano to diploma level and during his time at university became increasingly known as a jazz pianist. Like most present-day jazz pianists he sees his playing as having been partly influenced by Oscar Peterson, though he has now evolved a more personal style.

Wilmslow URC music director Cliff Crewe said "Last year the John Rotherham Trio shared a concert with the Laurence Singers, the choir which I conduct, in the same church. The response to their playing was so immediately enthusiastic that we've arranged another concert for October next year. This lunchtime event means people don't have to wait all that time to enjoy hearing them."

The concert begins at 12 noon, with coffee served from 11.30am. Tickets priced £5 are now available from the Church Office on Chapel Lane or by calling 01625 532600.
