Both Wilmslow and Handforth will mark Remembrance Day with a parade and church service on Sunday, 8th November.

Those participating in the Wilmslow Remembrance Day Parade will assemble outside the Royal British Legion on Grove Avenue at around 9.15am.

The Parade, under the control of Parade Marshall Chris McMurdock, will form up along Grove Avenue with civic dignitaries lining up directly behind the Royal British Legion. They will be joined by army cadets, air cadets, scouts, cubs, beavers, guides, brownies and rainbows.

The Parade will leave Grove Avenue at 9.30am prompt and march down Grove Street and Church Street arriving at St Bartholomew's Church for the 10am Remembrance Service.

The Service will finish around 10.50am and the congregation will make their way across the road to the Memorial Gardens for the laying of wreaths at 11am.

After the wreath laying service the parade will reform on Chancel Lane and march back to Grove Avenue under the Parade Marshall's instruction.

This year the Salute will be taken on Grove Street as the Parade returns to Grove Avenue.

Refreshments will be available when the Parade arrives back at Wilmslow Royal British Legion.

In Handforth the Parade will start to gather at Handforth Youth Centre on Old Road from 9am to 9.30am. It will then start to form up in order of march from 9.40am - coordinated by the Parade Sergeant.

The Parade will set off from Handforth Youth Centre at 10am marching along Old Road and turning right onto Station Road heading towards the Freemasons pub. They will then proceed along Wilmslow Road to St Chads Church where the Handforth Remembrance Service will take place from 10.30 to 11.40am. Rev. Steve Burmester will conduct a minutes silence during the service.

Afterwards the Parade will reform and march along Wilmslow Road, northbound, to the new Handforth War Memorial for a short service, blessing and wreath laying ceremony from 12noon to 12.15, after which the Parade will disperse.

Light refreshments will be available courtesy of Handforth Parish Council back at the Handforth Youth Centre and music will be provided by Oakmere Singers from 12.15 to 1.45pm.

We're getting information to gather no earlier than 10am at Handforth, not 9am to 9.30am. Seems rather early for a church service at 10.30am.
