Hockey: Ladies secure wins against Urmston and Timperley

hockey

This weekend Wilmslow Ladies first team faced a feisty Urmston side, both sides were determined to win the match from the first whistle, but Wilmslow had more to give than Urmston.

The ladies dominated the match from the start, and retained the majority of the possession throughout the match. Wilmslow attacked from the first whistle to the last, despite the many chances that Wilmslow created they were only able to fire two goals into the net.

The score line didn't reflect the match, and the girls were continually creating chances for each other but were unable to hit the back of the net. They were rewarded with their first goal, when Annika Hall smashed the ball home, and shortly afterwards, Jacq Morgan took on the goalkeeper alone and fired the ball home. The match ended 2-0 to Wilmslow.

Elsewhere the ladies second team put in an outstanding performance against Timperley winning 8-1 with goals from Maddie Troup and Jenna Mapes, whilst Louise Charlesworth, Jenny Nurmi and Grace Kerner all scored two goals each. The ladies third team however lost 2-1 also to Timperley.

Whilst the men's first team beat Winnington Par 3-1, with smashing goals from Andy Hunt, Ric Pheiffer and an outstanding penalty flick by Martin Wright. The men's second team also beat Winnington Park but won 3-2, the men's third team also won 3-1 beating Triton men's, whilst the men's fourth team unfortunately lost 3-1. However the boys under 15 side triumphed spectacularly against Lymm in an 11-0 goal thriller.
