Volunteers needed for Wilmslow's Poppy Appeal

Wilmslow's 2015 Poppy Appeal kicks off on Saturday 24th October and the team are looking for volunteers to help them once again.

Last year they raised an amazing £29,000 in Wilmslow and this year they are hoping to raise even more.

The annual poppy appeal volunteer's meeting will be held on Monday 5th October at the British Legion on Grove Avenue, starting at 7pm, where organisers will welcome feedback on things that you think went well last year and anything you think could be improved.

The rotas for manning the collection tables in Sainsbury's and Waitrose will be available at the meeting for anyone who would like to book a two hour slot at either.

Kate Hewison, Poppy Appeal Organiser said "As in previous years, there are lots of jobs to do before, during and after the Poppy Appeal, and the meeting is a great place to find out more details... however if you are happy to help before the meeting, we need a small team of volunteers to start preparing some of 450 poppy boxes (approx.) – and we will be meeting at the Royal British Legion, Grove Avenue next Wednesday, 30th September, 10am to 12 noon approximately."

The next sessions to continue preparing the Poppy Boxes will be Monday 5th, Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th October from 10am to 12 noon and the team of delivery volunteers will need to start delivering the week commencing 19th October.

If you are able to volunteer your support for the 2015 Wilmslow Poppy Appeal please email Kate Hewison, Poppy Appeal Organiser Wilmslow, or call her on 07802 735687. Alternatively email Khumi Burton, who is organising the rota for the collections stands in the supermarkets, or call her on 07821 288 975.

The 2015 Wilmslow Poppy Appeal runs from Saturday 24th October until Saturday 7th November.
